The figure shows the results of a simulation of the total number of positive test results as well as the true positive and false negative test results as a function of the prevalence (of connective tissue disease) for three different approaches/methods (screening for ANA by IIFA with cutoff 1:80 and cutoff 1:160 and screening for connective tissue-specific antibodies by EliA CTD Screen). The simulation is based on testing 1000 patients and the performance characteristics are from a recent meta-analysis [33]
